Mount Lycabettus (For Everyone — Panoramic Views)

For a view that takes your breath away, climb or take the funicular up Mount Lycabettus. At 277 meters high, it’s the highest point in central Athens.

The climb itself is rewarding, shaded by pine trees and filled with birdsong. For those less inclined to walk, the funicular makes reaching the summit easy.

At the top, you’ll find the tiny whitewashed chapel of St. George, as well as a café and restaurant. But the real reward is the panoramic view – Athens sprawls beneath you, and on clear days, you can see all the way to the sea.

Sunset is particularly magical here, with the Acropolis glowing golden against the fading light.
